BEAUTIFUL COLORFUL COLORADO!!

We are so grateful to live (and play) in such an amazing place! We hope you enjoy our little piece of paradise in Colorado!

Our home was custom built and is 3,000 sq.ft. It has hard wood floors, in floor radiant heat, fireplaces, tile kitchen, and custom made cherry wood cabinetry and accents throughout. We have a large front porch and back deck and many big windows to enjoy the warm Colorado sunshine, blue skies, and views of the Ohio Creek Valley and Carbon Peak.

The main floor of our home has a large kitchen, dining area, living area, office, and full bath. The kitchen has custom made cherrywood cabinets, corian countertops, and bar eating area with stools. The dining room is located just off the kitchen and has table made of barn wood and accomodates (6-8). Access to the back deck is just off the dining area via sliding glass doors.

The second floor of our house has 4 bedrooms. The large master bedroom has a queen size custom made bristle cone pine log bed, log/pine ceiling and gas fireplace. The master bath has a jacuzzi and shower. The 2nd bedroom has a queen size pine log bed and great sunny windows. The third bedroom has a full size custom made aspen log bed. The 4th bedroom has a single bed.We also have a spare mattress you can use to accomodate additional guests.

Relax after a long day of powder skiing or snowmobiling by the living room fire place. Had a long day on the trails mountain biking or hiking? Stretch your legs on our comfy redwood deck with your friends and have a BBQ and a beer in the cool shade of the aspen trees. We have a 42 inch flat screen TV with internet and Blu Ray capabilities, tons of movies, Wii, etc. We also have a home office with high speed cable internet access, wi-fi, and photocopy and fax machines.

Our home is located in a rural subdivision in Lower Castle Mountain about three miles outside of the City of Gunnison, Colorado. The subdivision is surrounded by ranching operations in the beautiful Ohio Creek Valley. Properties within our subdivision are all on 0.5 acre lots or larger. Our neighborhood is quiet and we have wonderful neighbors.

Fly in to Gunnison via our local county airport which is located 10 minutes from our home (Great airline rates during the ski season!). There is also easy access to local bus service (bus stop is a 5 minute walk from our home ) to the City of Gunnison, Crested Butte, and Crested Butte Mountain Resort which is GREAT during ski season! Do all your grocery shopping in town (7 minutes away).

Our exchange is perfect for the couple or family wanting to enjoy the outdoors and all the beauty and adventure that Colorado has to offer!

WINTER: We live a short, 25-30 minute drive from the beautiful town of Crested Butte and Crested Butte Mountain Resort and a 45 minute drive from Monarch Ski Area. Access to backcountry or nordic skiing, hutting, hot springs, sledding, dogsledding, and snowmobiling are practically out the back door. There's also world class ice fishing on Blue Mesa Reservoir (15 minutes away), the largest reservoir in Colorado. There are wonderful restaurants, art centers, movie theaters, spas, a recreation center with indoor pool, indoor and outdoor ice skating rinks, art galleries, many local bands, and shopping in Gunnison and Crested Butte.

SPRING/SUMMER/FALL: Gunnison and Crested Butte are notorious for having the best mountain biking in the world!! We're also known for amazing road bike rides and races. We also host road biking rides such as the Bicycle Tour of Colorado, Ride the Rockies, and Rage in the Sage.

If you're not into biking, there are amazing trail systems for hiking, trail running, or simply enjoying the aspen trees and wild flowers such as during the Crested Butte Wildflower Festival. We also have great summer concerts and art fairs. The Gunnison and Crested Butte area are amazing in the Spring and Fall. We have EASY access to white water rafting, horseback riding, ATV tours, camping, fishing, boating, jet skiing, hot springs, etc. Ever seen the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park? Do a morrow point boat tour and take in all its splendor!

We booster seats for the car, kids Chariot stroller with running, biking, and ski attachments if you need it for young ones ! We've also got bikes and biking gear, skis, snow shoes, etc. that you can use.

In general, we would like to do an exchange for a minimum of one week, but long weekend getaways are also a possibility. The exchange would not have to be simultaneous.

Brad works for the local college in finance and Sonja owns and operates an environmental services firm. We have two wonderful children ages 4 and 9. We love the outdoors! We like to hike, mountain and road bike, run, downhill and nordic ski, snowmobile, swim, snorkel, fish, etc.
